The best churches are full of gospel-saturated people holding tenaciously to a vision of godly obedience and God’s glory, and pursuing that godliness and glory with relentless, often unnoticed, plodding consistency.

There are three prominent religious errors which our nation faces.

1. We fail to acknowledge our iniquity.

  • This includes being willfully ignorant. We lack concern to read the Bible, God’s revealed will. It is a failure to be informed. Jeremiah 3:13 “They have not obeyed my voice.” We act as though we do not – no even we cannot hear.
  • We seem to be content to lie down in the filth of our sins. It has to do with not obeying the knowledge of God which is known to us. Jeremiah 3:25 “We lie down in our shame, and our confusion covereth us: for we have sinned against the LORD our God”
  • 2. We, as a nation have changed our God. Jeremiah 2:11 “Hath a nation changed their Gods which are yet no gods?”

  • “… but my people have changed their glory for that which doth not profit.”
  • Jeremiah 3:13 ” For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.
  • Jeremiah 2:23 “How canst thou say, I am not polluted, I have not gone after Baalim? see thy way in the valley, know what thou hast done:..” Our actions as a nation are no different than in the day of Jeremiah. We are polluted too. And we seem to not care.
  • The churches of the land have played the harlot by using every means of the ungodly to be successful, but yet think they can return to the Living God without consequence. They pollute their sanctuaries.
  • Be not deceived by those who claim to be ordained leaders of God. Know the Scriptures and discern truth to follow it. Jeremiah 5:12-14 “They have belied the LORD, and said, It is not he; neither shall evil come upon us; neither shall we see sword nor famine: And the prophets [Those preachers who speak forth and even forecast the future.] shall become wind, and the word is not in them: thus shall it be done unto them. Wherefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.”
  • 3. We have made the truth into a lie and made a lie, truth.

  • Jeremiah 5:1 “Run ye to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in the broad places thereof, if ye can find a man, if there be any that executeth judgment, that seeketh the truth; and I will pardon it.”
  • Jeremiah 6:10 – 12 To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: behold, the word of the LORD is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it. Therefore I am full of the fury of the LORD; I am weary with holding in: I will pour it out upon the children abroad, and upon the assembly of young men together: for even the husband with the wife shall be taken, the aged with him that is full of days. And their houses shall be turned unto others, with their fields and wives together: for I will stretch out my hand upon the inhabitants of the land, saith the LORD.”
  • We dare not be counted among those who are spiritually deaf. Life and eternal life is at stake!
